Infant and Child Development Program
The Infant and Child Development Program supports families with children from birth to school entry who are at risk for, or experiencing a delay in any area of development. The Infant and Child Development Specialist visits a child in their family home, regularly, to provide the following services:
o Developmental Screening and Assessment to measure a child’s area of strength and needs
o Individual Family Service Plan establishing child and family goals with ongoing strategies built into the family daily routine
o School Readiness Assessment
o Transition to school support
o Consultation with other service providers

Children from birth to kindergarten entry who would benefit from support in any area of development

The Infant and Child Development Program is funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services at no cost to families.

The Infant and Child Development Specialist supports a variety of areas for young children and their families. Common areas are: behaviour, transitions, developmental milestones, routines such as sleeping and eating, monitoring development, and building family capacity.
The Specialist can also support with food security and linkages to resources and support within the community.

The frequency at which your Specialist and you connect varies on your availability, needs/goals for your child, and how confident you feel in navigating goals independently. Often, visits are more frequent in the beginning, and become less frequent over time.

Yes! Before your child enters Kindergarten, the Specialist can provide school readiness assessments, supports, and activities so that your child reaches their goals for school entry.

Sessions are home based, which means the Specialist can come directly to your home for supports and service!
The Specialist is also flexible with virtual and/or community meetings.
